How does the South Stars organization communication with me?

In order to receive emails, you need to do two things: 1) create a username and password in the "Create and account" area in the upper left hand side of our website (www.southstarshockey.net). 2) "Become a member" of the South Stars website. If you already have a SportNgin account (for example your player was part of the Sharks youth program at SIYHA), you just need to become a member of the South Stars site, since you already have already created an account with SportNgin. 

In addition, you can get the SportNgin App and follow one or both South Stars' teams. You can access the calendar and news announcements via the app. 


DETAILED INFO: How do I create an account and become a member of a site?

Purpose: Once you become a member of the South Stars website, you will receive emails that are sent from the Members Directory.

Step 1: Go to our home page and create a SportNgin account by clicking: Create an Account. If you already have a SportNgin account, go to Step 2.

Step 2: Upper left side of the page, select Log In and log in using your username and password for your SportNgin account.

Step 3: Upper left side of the page,select Become a Member.

Step 4: Select the profile you would like to add to the Membership.

Step 5: Select Update Membership for Selected Profiles.

 


How do I link multiple SportNgin accounts to receive the same messages?

You may want more than one person to receive the same messages sent from a player's team. You can do this by linking another Sport Ngin account to the athlete's profile. By doing so, the linked account will receive a copy of all messages sent to the athlete. This would be helpful if a parent has a separate Sport Ngin account from their child and would like to receive all messages sent to the child. Also, this would be helpful in situations where parents are in different households and both need to receive the same communications. 

Additionally, a Linked Account can view any Private Roster that the Linked-to Account belongs to.

How to Link an additional Sport Ngin Account
  1. Access your Organization’s Sport Ngin Website.
  2. Login using your Sport Ngin username and password. 
  3. Click the drop-down list next to your username and select Profile.
  4. On the bottom left, in the Linked Accounts section, click Add
  5. Select the profile that you want to add a linked account to. For example, if you have multiple profiles created for your children and only need to link to one, just select that profile. 
  6. Enter the email address that you would like to link and click Send Invitation. Until the other user accepts the invitation, it will display Pending Acceptance by their name in the Linked Accounts section.
      
  7. If you would like to CC an email address without a Sport Ngin Account, you can add a secondary email address to your account by clicking add a secondary email address.

To Enable the Linked Account To Receive the Same Text Messages

If you want the linked Sport Ngin account to also receive the text notifications, they will need to become a member of team site and opt in to receive text messages in their profile settings.

Can I receive text notifications of emails and news updates?

In order to receive text notifications from your team's website, you need to add your mobile phone number to your profile and enable text notifications to be sent to your mobile phone.

To receive text notifications, do the following:

  1. On your team’s website, click on your profile name on the top left of the screen.

  2. Click Account Settings from the profile drop-down list.

Under Notification Settings, click the checkbox next to the team for which you want to receive text notifications.  


Can someone without a SportNgin account receive team emails?

As a parent, you often need to be able to widen your circle of who needs to keep up to date with your player's schedule. You may need to add non-members such as grandparents, babysitters, neighbors, etc. to your contact list so they too can keep up to date with the team schedule. You can add their email address to your profile so they will receive the same email messages that you do.

Note: Coaches and Team Managers can add additional email addresses to a non-member's profile in order to be able to include all players in team communications. However, once that profile owner (e.g. the parent) accepts the invitation and becomes a team member, they will take control what contact information appears. 

For Parents/Profile Owners: Adding a Contact to Your Profile
To add additional contacts to your profile, complete these steps:

  1. Open the team's web page. 
  2. Click the Profile drop-down list and then click My Profile. 
  3. In the Contact Information section, click Add Email Address. 
  4. Enter the email address and click Add.

For Coaches/Team Managers: Adding a Contact to a Player's Profile in Team Center
To add additional contacts to a player's profile, complete these steps:

  1. In Team Center, click the Roster tab and select the player's profile. 
  2. Click the pencil icon to edit the profile. 
  3. Click Contact Preferences. 
  4. Enter a name in the label field (optional) and then enter the email address in the email field (required). 
  5. Click Save.
