SOUTH STARS TRYOUTS

Welcome to the registration for South Stars Hockey for the 2026 - 2027 season.

You will need a 2025 - 2026 USA Hockey number for your player to complete registration. You must register your player for tryouts by May 3rd. Tryouts will be held on May 5th and May 9th at Hamilton Ice Arena in Columbus, IN.

For the 2026-2027 season we will be roster both Varsity (Red) and Junior Varsity (White) teams. Placement on each team will be determined based on performance during the try out process and final decisions are made by the coaching staff of each team.

Once tryouts have concluded, the player will receive a call from the head coach of the team that the player was placed on. You will then be sent an email link for you to register your player with that team, and pay the deposit. You will have 24 hours to secure your player's spot on the roster.

Ages

Players must be planning to be enrolled in high school grades 9-12 during the entire 2026-2027 school year.

Where

Tryouts will take place at Hamilton Ice Arena in Columbus, IN.

Once the season begins, all practices and home games will take place at Perry Park Ice Rink.

Practices

Both the Varsity and JV teams practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week.

Off ice workouts are twice a week in July and August, then once a week on Wednesdays until Sept. 30.

Games

The Varsity team will play approximately 40 games.

The JV team will play 30-35 games.

Games are played starting in late September and the season ends with the State Tournaments in late February.

Game Jerseys

Game jerseys are not provided as part of the player assessment fees. Players will need to special order both home and away jerseys for the season as part of the registration process. Most players get multiple seasons of use out of the jerseys.

Varsity players also are expected to purchase a third jersey.

Tryout Cost

$100

Players making either the JV or Varsity team will have the full $100 fee credited towards the 2026-2027 season.

How many players will be selected during tryouts?

We plan to field a full roster for both Varsity and JV. Rosters will be between 18 and 22 players, with 2 goalies being selected for each team.
